About
We are convening the first Agentic AI for Science (AAI4Science) Developer Summit, July 28–31, 2026, at the AI Futures Lab in Berkeley, California, hosted by the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS). It runs adjacent to the 5,000-person, big-stage Berkeley Agentic AI Summit (Aug 1–2) organized by Berkeley RDI.
Over four days, we’re bringing together about 30 people from diverse backgrounds to lay the foundations for an open-source ecosystem of AI-powered tools for scientific research. The program is built around focused hacking, collaborative design, and unconference-style brainstorming sessions running throughout. Here is what you can expect:
Bring a project and push it forward.

A small, deliberately mixed cohort (scientists, ML researchers, infra builders) where the format is built for real working relationships to form, not just exchange contacts.Brainstorm priorities for AAI4Science.
What problems are worth working on, what infrastructure is missing, what nobody is building yet. A meaningful chunk of the schedule is unconference-style: sessions you pitch on day one and run yourselves, for conversations that need to happen in person.Help shape ASTRA ahead of stable v1.
Join design discussions, stress-test the schema against your real workflows, and contribute to what goes into v1.
Who it's for
The summit brings together domain scientists who have felt the widening gap between what AI can produce and what can be vetted; tool-builders thinking about provenance, agentic workflows, or computational reproducibility; and AI researchers who want agentic AI to hold up to scientific scrutiny.

The summit is hosted at the AI Futures Lab in downtown Berkeley, by the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS).

Our summit wraps on July 31, and the very next day, up on the UC Berkeley campus, Berkeley RDI hosts the Agentic AI Summit 2026 (August 1–2). This is a separate event, run independently of ours and on a very different scale: billed as the largest gathering dedicated to agentic AI, with 5,000+ attendees and 50+ speakers from across academia and industry.
Attend both events and turn one trip into a full week of agentic AI, from the workbench to the main stage. Registration and program for the Agentic AI Summit 2026 are on Berkeley RDI’s site.
